Here’s what you need to know about ordering from us.
Secure Checkout
Secure browsing. Our website is protected by a site-wide SSL certificate, which encrypts and protects the data our site sends to you as well as the data you send to our website when browsing, personalizing, or placing an order.
Trusted payment options. We receive payments through Stripe, one of the web’s most popular and dependable credit card processors. In fact, we don’t even see your payment information; it’s all done through Stripe’s secure system. Additionally, you can choose PayPal and select additional payment options, all of which use encryption to keep your information safe.
Email communication. Email is our primary method of communication about your order. We’ll send a handful of emails: Order confirmation, shipping notification, questions about shipping and personalization, and of course we’ll ask you to review the memorial after you receive it. And that’s about it! If the order or issue seems urgent and we’re not getting an email response, we may text or give you a personal phone call to talk about it.
We don’t sell your personal info. We value privacy for ourselves, and we treat our customers the same way. If you choose to subscribe to our email newsletter, we may send you funeral tips, industry news, memorial ideas, discounts and sales, and more. When you’re ready, unsubscribe anytime by clicking the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of each newsletter email. We’ll still be able to contact you if there is important information about your order. Just remember that the only way you’ll receive unwanted emails from us is if you’ve 1) opted in to our newsletter and 2) haven’t yet clicked “unsubscribe.”
Cremation Urns
Many of our items are made to order for you. Be sure to check each product page for information about production time, especially if you need the urn by a particular date. Rush production and shipping may be arranged.
Handmade items can vary from what is pictured. Read the product details carefully, as the artist will specify if you will receive the exact item pictured. If not, expect to receive a close but not exact version of the product. For instance:
- Wood grain and coloration can vary
- Ceramic glazes will feature varying drip lines and coloration
- Glass urn color patterns fluctuate, especially with different sizes (similar to the way a deep red balloon will become lighter as it is blown up, almost to the point of being pink)
- Any handcrafted product will differ in some way from what is shown
These are features, not bugs! If you are looking for an exact replica, you may prefer mass produced products. That’s ok. But our products are individually made, which means that your loved one’s urn will be just as unique as they were.
Capacity (volume) is measured in cubic inches. Each urn’s product details will include the capacity in cubic inches. The standard size for an adult urn is 200 cubic inches, which will hold the remains for most adults. To find out how much space you need, you can measure or estimate.
- Measure (recommended). Measure the length, width, and depth (in inches) of the plastic bag of cremated remains. Multiply L x W x D and the result will be the cubic inch capacity you need.
- Estimate. If the cremation has not been completed, you will need to estimate. Figure 1lbs of the person’s pre-cremation body weight will require approximately 1 cubic inch of space for ashes. If the person weighed about 175 lbs, they will need an urn with about 175 cubic inches of capacity. Each person and each crematorium varies in results, so this is only an estimate. However, it is an industry standard that serves well in almost all cases. A 175 lbs person will almost certainly require less than 175 cubic inches of space in the urn.
- Temporary urn. Measure the temporary plastic urn you received from the crematorium. The typical size is 8.5 x 6.5 x 4.5, and it has an interior capacity of 200 cubic inches. If the remains fit into the temporary urn, they’ll fit into any standard 200 cubic inch urn.
Personalization. We encourage our vendors to provide proofs for you to review before finalizing the personalization on the urn. Not all vendors provide proofs, however. Please double and triple check the personalization details on your memorial prior to ordering.
The funeral home is required by law to use the urn of your choice. Many people wonder what they need to buy from the funeral home. You are completely free to order an urn through the funeral home or crematorium, from US Urns Online, or from any other urn manufacturer, maker, or distributor. You are even welcome to bring in your own container, whether it’s something you made or a coffee tin.
The crematorium will hold the remains until you receive the urn. If the urn will be delivered a few days after the cremation, just let the funeral director know. They will keep the remains safely until you bring the urn to them. If production will take weeks or months, it may be best for you to take the ashes home in a temporary urn. When the permanent urn arrives, you can transfer the remains yourself or take it back to the funeral home, where they can transfer the ashes in just a few minutes.
Digital Template Orders
When you purchase a template, you’ll receive an order confirmation email plus another email granting access to your digital template on Corjl, our template editing platform. Simply click the link, create an account (so that your stuff can get saved while you edit) and then start editing.
When you’re done, download the file (safe as PDF is best – it’s print-ready) and take it to the printers, or print at home.
Please be aware that with our templates you can “try before you buy.” We strongly advise you to create a (free) Corjl account, otherwise you won’t be able to save your progress or access your edits after you order.
