Creating Beautiful Memorial Urns
I have been a cabinet maker and a woodworker for over 25 years, looking for something more meaningful than just building and installing kitchens. Building cabinets has been a great experience, and I have met a lot of wonderful people over the years. The downside of this has been a lack of opportunity to create attractive new designs that bring out the beauty in wood.
I began this business to set off on a new course where I could be more artistic and imaginative in my work. While this is my job, and I love it, my calling is as a pastor. It is to be there for people, in good times and bad, sharing the love that Christ has for them.
One thing I have witnessed in my life is the difficulty people go through when they lose a loved one. Besides all of the sorrow from the loss of a loved one, there are financial stresses piled on as well. Many of them are caused by funeral expenses. When funds are limited, many people turn to cremation as a substantially lower-cost option than a standard burial. I started designing and building cremation urns in 2014 to give away to those in need, without the financial resources to buy a nice urn for their loved one.
My designs aim for them to be beautiful and worthy of holding the remains of someone loved and missed by the people left behind. Having an urn that accurately expresses the memories of a loved one through beautiful designs and carvings can help in the grieving process.
Every piece I craft is from solid hardwoods and made by hand at my home, affectionately known as Ghetto Abbey in St. Joseph, Missouri. This personal touch ensures that each urn is not just a product, but a heartfelt creation.
My shop is equipped with the most up-to-date technology and equipment to produce very high-quality urns with a personal touch.
Unlike most urns for sale today, which are often imported and use lower-quality materials, I exclusively use domestic hardwoods such as walnut, cherry, oak, and maple. This emphasis on high-quality materials ensures that each urn is not just a vessel, but a lasting tribute.
My ultimate goal is to provide great value, excellent design, and a reasonable price. I understand the importance of finding a place to honor your loved one’s cremation ashes, and I strive to create urns that you can be proud of.
