This article provides details for the two ways that customers can search and sort through our products; namely, by categories and attributes.

Product Categories

Each product must be assigned to a category. Vendors cannot add categories; if you believe a new category is needed for your products, let us know.

We aim to provide our customers with the easiest-to-navigate website possible, so we want to keep the categories simple and minimal.

Note that in addition to these broad categories, products can be sorted by attributes (see next section).

Apply the Level 1 category and only one Level 2 category for each product listing. In some cases, exceptions are allowable:

• Pet gifts/memorials can go in Sympathy Gifts and Pets > Pet Memorials
• Small urns that don’t have pet-specific designs (i.e., no paw print or dog bone designs) can go into Pets > Pet Urns and Cremation Urns (with the appropriate smaller-than-adult-urn size attribute(s), see below)

Product Attributes

This section is about product attributes for filtering. For attributes used for variations, see here.

In order to keep our product categories simple and easy to navigate, customers can sort each category by product attribute.

These attributes function as filters to help the customer find exactly what they are looking for. To maintain customer satisfaction, it is imperative that you only apply attributes that truly fit your product from our pre-set attribute selection.

Capacity (Cubic Inches)

Required for all cremation urns and keepsakes.

Capacity in cubic inches for any item that holds or uses cremated remains. Numbers between 1-500 in increments of five; use the closest number at or below your urn’s capacity. Customers can filter by capacity range using a numeric slider.

• If your urn hold 212 cubic inches, use the 210 tag
• If your urn holds “a pinch” of ashes, use the 1 tag
• If you urn holds 109 cubic inches, use the 105 tag

Collection

Optional for all products. To use, you must request your own unique Collection attribute.

The “Collection” filter provides a way to keep product designs together. Do not use existing collections; request your own custom collection(s) for your products.

Examples

• Pacific Crest Collection
• Vergennes Collection

Color

Optional for all products, but recommended for notably colorful products.

1-3 readily visible color tags are allowed. Use common sense; a green cultured marble urn with white accents should be tagged with “Green” but not “White,” because someone filtering for “White” is not looking for a green urn. A glass urn that is primarily pink with bright splashes of yellow colors should be tagged with “Pink” and optionally “Yellow.”

For products with many colors, use “multicolor.”

Feature

Optional for all products.

Does your product have a non-traditional function, element, or design? Use the Feature attribute to filter by these common characteristics.

If your product’s feature is not listed below, we can consider creating a new Feature attribute, or we can create a special Collection for your product.

Fillable Jewelry

Required for all jewelry products.

Each jewelry item must be labeled with one of these attributes to indicate whether it holds ashes, does not hold ashes, or permanently incorporates ashes into the piece itself.

Jewelry Style

Required for all jewelry products.

We have chosen to include all jewelry types in one category. Customers can sort by type of jewelry (rings, necklaces, etc) using the filter attributes below. If you have additional types (anklets, tie clips/bars, cuff links) beyond just one or two products, ask us to create a new Jewelry Style attribute.

Material

Required for all products.

Select the primary material type. For instance, bird feeders are made with cedar, acrylic panels, and wire for hanging. The appropriate material for this product is “Cedar.”

Use these general material types even when your product is a more specific type. A product made with African Mahogany should be tagged with Mahogany, while a product in Alder with a Dark Walnut Stain should be tagged with Alder.

Person

Optional for all products, but recommended.

Who is this item primarily intended for? Statistically, customers will most often use this filter to find urns for Mom, Dad, Husband, or Wife. By the same token, customers looking for urns or gifts for Friend or Grandma may have a difficult time finding something suitable. Make sure that your urn or memorial truly fits that category, as the filter will be useless if every item is tagged for, say, Mom.

Think through (1) Who would choose this filter? and (2) What would that person hope to find?

Example 1: An elegant hand-turned walnut wood urn in a vase shape. Tag it with: Adult, Men, Women.
(While this urn may work for a wife, a grandpa, and so on, those attributes should feature products tailored specifically for wife, grandpa, etc.)

Example 2: An urn depicting a fishing scene. Tag it with: Adult, Men, Dad, Husband, Grandfather.
(Anyone looking for an urn for a woman who loved to fish will simply sort by the “Fishing” theme attribute. We don’t want to clutter “Wife” and “Mom” filters with fishing scenes.)

Example 3: A memorial plaque that says “Brother” and features a poem and personalization. Tag it with: Brother.

Example 4: Jewelry with gemstone and heart that says “Friends Forever.” Tag it with: Women, Sister, Friend.

Example 5: An urn decorated with roses. Tag it with: Adult, Women, Mom, Wife, Grandmother.

Example 6: An urn decorated with a heart and wedding rings. Tag it with: Women, Couples, Wife, Husband.
(Those filtering by “Men” or “Dad” or “Mom” or “Adult” will rarely be looking for wedding rings. However, those filtering by the above tags may be interested in this design.)

Personalized

Optional for all products, but highly recommended (if available).

If your product can be personalized in any way with text or photo, include this attribute. Colors, birthstones, and generic sentiments (“Mom ♥” or choice of poem) are not considered personalization.

Pet

Required for all pet urns and memorials.

Multiple values are allowed for items suitable for dogs and cats and (rarely) other animals. Do not apply “Horses” and “Other Animals” unless those values truly apply.

Resting Place

Required for cremation urns.

Shape

Optional for all products.

Select the shape of your urn or jewelry pendant. Most sympathy gifts do not need to add this attribute. Customers using this filter are searching for urns or jewelry pendants; other attributes will be more appropriate for your sympathy gift or memorial item.

Size

Required for cremation urns.

This helps customers sort by size. Multiple overlapping size tags are allowed where appropriate. The checkmark (✔) means the tag can be used for pet urns.

Stones

Required for all jewelry products that include gemstones.

Use these attributes whether the product features genuine or imitation stones. However, you must clearly indicate on the product page (in title, description, or short description) whether the product has imitation or genuine stones.

Theme

Optional for all products, but highly recommended (if applicable).

If your product has no specific design or theme, you may consider “simple” as the theme.
